APS's first product was a reinvention of an obsolete DOS product to layout an edition of a newspaper based on the shape and colour requirements of adverts booked.

What did Redgum do?

Redgum took the initial layout concept we saw in the DOS product and created an expert system expanding its scope to be over 100 variables considered, just as an expert would.

This product and its capabilities created a substantial point of difference from competitors - the savings made by customers allowed APS to maintain prices even when competitors gave their version away for free in an attempt to sell the rest of their suite.

From this single concept APS has built the Optima suite of products that touch every aspect of the Newsprint operation. This has transformed a single "layout operator" role into a digital twin that customers rely on to build their product.

What does it mean for our Client?

What does it mean for their Customers?

Instead of one layout operator making all the decisions 1-2 days before deadline, the system automatically provides near complete layouts, the operator can then spend their time fine tuning.

Quicklayout provides these operators with a clear visual markers so the operators knows when there is a problem, what the problem is and in many cases helps them decide on the appropriate solution.
